This Privacy Policy is designed to help individuals understand what information is collected, how information is managed and protected.  The Music Industries Association of Canada (MIAC) does not collect any personal information about visitors to this website other than that which is specifically and knowingly provided by you.  In certain circumstances IP addresses are used to analyze trends and for statistical purposes in order to improve our website.

Industry-standard encryption technologies are utilized for data exchanged with our site. However, no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure and MIAC cannot warrant the security of such information.  Within our website we have provided links to web sites of other companies.  MIAC does not warrant the privacy of those sites.  It is your responsibility to read the privacy statements on all sites you visit.  By supplying your email address you may receive periodic electronic communications from MIAC regarding our events, membership and initiatives.  If you wish to be removed from the list at any time, please contact the MIAC Membership Coordinator.

Information that is collected from our website including the membership forms, trade show space applications, and other similar sources will be held confidential and protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. By subscribing to our reports and services, applying for membership or exhibit space, or for other MIAC services and events, individuals consent to the collection and use of such information for the purposes identified in this Privacy Policy.

MIAC sometimes uses the services of third party companies e.g. trade show service providers.  These third party suppliers may from time to time be provided with information for communication purposes expressly determined by MIAC. Our third party suppliers are contractually obligated to keep the information confidential, to use it only for the purpose requested and to destroy the information when it is no longer required.  Personal information is shared with external service providers only to the extent required for the provision of such services.  In limited circumstances, MIAC may use or disclose personal information without the knowledge or consent of the individual for purposes of debt collection, breaches of agreements, or as required by law.  MIAC does not sell or otherwise provide personal information to third-party organizations for reasons other than that which is outlined in this Privacy Policy.
