Objectives

Market Development
To assist musical instrument and associated product manufacturers and suppliers to the Canadian marketplace to increase the popularization of music as an educational media for leisure enjoyment. To create more active music makers in Canada.

Statistical Research
To collect and analyze sales and distribution data relative to musical instruments and associated products in Canada, identifying trends and issues impacting the industry.

Government Relations
To review and analyze Canadian governmental (federal/provincial/municipal) programs and policies which have a bearing on music products, music education and arts activities in Canada. Represent the Canadian music products industry to all levels of government.

Trade Shows - National & Regional
To sponsor Canadian music industry trade shows for the purpose of promoting music, sound, and lighting products and services to the retail network in Canada. To act as a forum for MIAC members to exchange industry related information.

Membership Services
To provide MIAC members with a variety of negotiated and non-negotiated services and programs that will assist in their business development and effectiveness in Canadian and foreign markets.

Communications
To enhance communications among manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers, to further strengthen the music products industry. To liaise with any organization, domestic or foreign, having a desire to communicate with the Canadian music products industry.

Education & Training
To promote educational and training activities for the Canadian music products industry that will enhance business skills at all levels.

The Performing Arts
To develop relationships with Canadian educational institutions that will enhance music oriented cultural development in Canada.

To be able to better develop all of these objectives, MIAC has forged a close working relationship with NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), based in Anaheim, California. Joint projects are being planned for the benefit of retailers in both Canada and the United States.
